George Collier opened the inquest into the death of Martha Tabram, since Coroner Wynne Edwin Baxter was unavailable. George Collier was born in St. Pancras, London, Middlesex in 1856, and married Julia Matilda Inglis in Bromley, Kent, in December 1887. In the 1881 Census, he was listed as being a Clerk (Solicitor’s?) to the India Office, and his address was given as "Holyport House" in Beckenham, Kent, England. His older brother, John, was also a Solicitor. His father, John P. Collier, was an Assistant Paymaster General.
