George Chapman? Never Heard Of Him

Man Convicted of Killing Women in England Not Known in Jersey City.
NEW YORK, March 23. – A London dispatch was printed here today alleging that George Chapman, who was convicted of the murder of several women in London, was the original "Jack the Ripper." It was further stated that Chapman had opened a barbershop in Jersey City some years ago, and that soon after his arrival there a repetition of "Jack the Ripper" murders occured in Jersey City. According to the dispatch Chapman was a Pole, his real name being Klosowski. Investigation by the Jersey City police today failed to show any trace of Klosowski and search of the records revealed no trace of any "Jack the Ripper" crimes in Jersey City.
